In the latest incident of the animal-human conflict, a leopard entered a village in Chandrapur district of Vidarbha, leaving people running for their lives as it tried to escape from the confines of a tiled-roof house and attacked anyone who crossed his path.

Dramatic video footage of the incident showed the leopard breaking free from the roof and pouncing on the bystanders, some of them armed with sticks.

Forest department officials later managed to rein in the animal with the help of tranquilisers, after it entered a toilet in a house.

One villager was injured after being attacked by the leopard. The village where the leopard entered is not far from the Tadoba National Park.

On April 17, a leopard had injured a man in a village in Karad in western Maharashtra.
