A leopard, which remained elusive for the last fortnight, today fell into a trap set by forest department in Amaravathy coming under Anamalai Tiger Reserve in nearby Tirupur District.
The animal, which had killed some cattle and dogs, was spotted by some forest department officials yesterday morning who prepared three traps, with live prey.
The leopard fell in a trap this morning kept near Sainik School, department sources said.
Steps are being taken to release the animal into the jungle, they said.
