A decomposed carcass of a leopard was found in jungle near Brahmanath village under Darwha forest range Sunday, a senior official said today.

The official did not rule out the possibility of poaching as one of the legs of the wild cat was found severed.

"We have searched the forest record to ascertain if there was any complaint from farmers about any leopard having attacked their cattle but there was none," said Chief Conservator of Forest (Yavatmal) Vasant Gurme.

He said there was least possibility of poisoning of the feline by villagers.

"The exact cause behind its death will be known only after we receive the postmortem report which is awaited," he added.
