Lepcha students from Sikkim top scholarship test

Lepcha students of the state government-run schools of north Sikkim have bagged the top three positions in the Chief Minister's Merit Scholarship examinations held last December.

Mongmit Lepcha of north Sikkim's Mangan Senior Secondary School topped the list while Pema Laden Lepcha of Gor Secondary School and Dzongu and Tendong Lepcha of Navey Primary School, North, secured the second and third positions respectively, Joint Director Examination & Scholarship HRDD Sonam Denzongpa said.

Out of the 401 candidates who took the examinations held on December 21 last year, 129 were selected for the scholarship, he said, adding, that the test was meant for government schools' students who were passing out of class V.
 

Out of the 129 students, 26 will be sent to reputed public schools outside the state while the rest will get admission in reputed schools within the state, he added.
