Four birds of the endangered Lesser Florican specie have been spotted at Sailana Wildlife Sanctuary in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh.

"The four birds, including three female Lesser Floricans, locally known as Likh and Kharmor, have made Sailana their home," ornithologist Ajay Gadikar, who along with the forest department officials, is studying the migratory birds, said.

The floricans migrate to Madhya Pradesh this time of the year annually for reproductive purposes and stay here for around four months.

According to Gadikar, these birds need grasslands for reproduction. Dhar, Jhabua and Ratlam are their favourite migration spots.

Apart from Madhya Pradesh, these birds also migrate to Rajasthan and Gujarat for reproduction, he said.
