Lethal Weapon's Riggs and Murtaugh could soon be back on the street and this time on television.

Warner Bros Television is teaming up with Fox and "Forever" creator Matthew Miller on the latest in a seemingly never-ending list of movie franchises being turned into TV shows, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Original producers Richard Donner and Joel Silver are not involved in the television reboot but have given their approval.

"Lethal Weapon" will follow the same premise as the original 1987 movie, as hot shot homicide detective Martin Riggs teams up with irritable veteran Roger Murtaugh to solve tough cases.

There is no indication yet that original stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover will be involved in the TV series.

A proper film sequel to 1998 film "Lethal Weapon 4" was once in development, only to be ruled out by Mel Gibson in 2012.

Fox recently premiered its "Minority Report" spin-off, while "Limitless" re-launched as a CBS drama.

Other reboots under development include "Galaxy Quest", "Behind Enemy Lines", "The A-Team", "Urban Cowboy", "Training Day" and "Rush Hour".
