"We have conducted a thorough probe and have found that the letter was fake and probably aimed at defaming the trainees here or with a view to malign the officials named in it," inquiry officer Priti Jain said.

DGP Harish Meena had received a letter on March 28 from an anonymous person alleging that 43 women police trainees staying at the Reserve Police Line's hostel here were being sexually exploited by officers.

The DGP forwarded the letter to the officials concerned and sought a reply from them.

Police launched an inquiry into the allegation on Friday and spoke to all the 43 trainees at the hostel.

"None of the trainees admitted to have written the letter and ruled out any such exploitation in the hostel," Jain said.
