Members of the Left Front and Congress today continued to stage protests inside West Bengal Assembly against suspension of Leader of the Opposition Abdul Mannan by Speaker Biman Banerjee.

Both the Left Front and Congress MLAs stood on their feet as soon the house began and rushed towards the Speaker's chair with placards and started slogan shouting.

Proceedings during the morning session continued, though replies made by the ministers were disturbed by the commotion made by Opposition members.

Mannan, who was suspended by the Speaker on February eight for opposing West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and termed it as "black law" while refusing to heed to the Speaker who asked him to wait for discussions on it.

He was evicted from the house by the marshal during which he was taken ill and was hospitalised. Congress and its ally Left Front members were protesting inside the House since then.
