LF, Congress delegation to visit riot hit areas tomorrow

The opposition Congress and the Left Front has decided to sent delegations to riot hit areas of North 24 Parganas district tomorrow to access the situation and stand beside the affected people.

The Left Front delegation will be led by CPI(M) politburo member and MP Mohammed Salim and Left Front legislative party leader Sujan Chakraborty. They will visit the riot hit areas and also meet the affected people there.

The Congress delegation will be led by state Congress president Adhir Chowdhury and will visit the affected ares of Baduria in North 24 parganas.

The Left Front today took out rallies in various parts of the state including Kolkata and appealed to people for maintaining peace and harmony in the respective areas.
 

Left Front legislative party leader Sujan Chakraborty today wrote a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and urged her to take steps to restore peace and normalcy in the riot hit areas. He also requested that an all party meeting should be convened on this issue.

Fresh tension was reported in West Bengal's Basirhat area today forcing the police to lob teargas shells and baton charge even as life returned to normalcy in strife-torn Baduria in North 24 Parganas district.
