A delegation of Left Front legislators met West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan and submitted a memorandum to him today alleging post-poll violence against its supporters in different parts of the state by ruling Trinamool Congress activists.
"Left Front workers and supporters are being attacked in many places. We met the Governor and informed him about the situation," Leader of Opposition in assembly Surjyakanta Mishra told newpersons after meeting Governor M K Narayanan.
Claiming that the situation in the state was alarming, Mishra said "We submitted a list of incidents to the governor."
"We have told the Governor that it is necessary to ensure peace," he said.
"Police have not taken any action against those accused who are from the ruling party. Instead, those who are affected by the violence are being framed in false cases," he added.
Mishra claimed that government officers who had worked independently during the elections have been sent on compulsory waiting, while those who were taken to task by Election Commission were returned to their original post.
"We have little faith in these officers," he said referring to some IAS and IPS officers who were transferred on EC's orders during the Lok Sabha elections but were sent back to their original posts by the TMC government after the polls.
Taking on the state government for reverting its order on online admission in colleges, Mishra alleged it would lead to malpractice in the admission process and ensure earning of Rs 100 crore by unscrupulous people.
Mishra, a CPI(M) Politburo member, questioned the cash-strapped West Bengal government's felicitation of Kolkata Knight Riders. "Which way is the government going ? Why is it spending so much money?"
He claimed that job creation in the state has not happened due to lack of industrialisation and that suspension of work at the Uttarpara unit of Hindustan Motors has further affected the state's prospects.
