Addressing a public meeting organised by Central Industrial Trade Union (CITU) here, Sarkar said, "The UPA government at the Centre has lost all its right to remain in power due to sky-high corruption and the victory of the Left Front in Tripura would send a message of change to the Centre."
CITU organised the meeting to appeal to the people and explain why the seventh Left Front government should be installed in the state.
The Chief Minister said the UPA government was not only involved in corruption one after another, it had no will to check corruption in the country as a result of which the capitalists and politicians were making huge black money and depositing them in foreign banks.
He alleged that due to the policies of the Central government, no new posts were being created for giving jobs to the unemployed and even the vacant posts were not being filled up as a result of which the number of unemployed had reached 20 crore in the country.
"In 66 years of our independence, 35 crore people in our country are illiterate, 55% women in our country are suffering from anaemia and their children are suffering from malnutrition.
"The Congress party must be responsible for underdevelopment of the country and backwardness of people because they remained in power for more than 50 years in the 66 years of independence", he said.
Sarkar said despite all limitations, the Left Front government was trying its best to improve the standard of life of people, giving good governance and expanding and consolidating the base of democracy in the state.
