Left Front took out a rally in Kolkata today against rise of communalism in West Bengal and appealed to all to maintain peace and harmony.

The rally was led by LF chairman Biman Bose, CPI(M) state secretary Surya Kanta Mishra and other left leaders.

Bose accused the state government of failing to control the riots at Baduria in North 24 Parganas district.

"During Left Front regime we never allowed communal elements to raise their heads in Bengal. But now because of Trinamool Congress communal elements are trying to divide the society on communal lines," he said.

The rally started from Mahajati Sadan in central Kolkata and terminated at Esplanade in the heart of the city.
