Left Front members today walked out of the Assembly when Speaker Biman Banerjee refused to admit an adjournment motion brought by CPI(M) MLA Anisur Rahman along with others.

The Left Front members demanded that the adjournment be allowed on how ruling party minister Shyamapada Mukherjee could stand in a Bankura court in defence of Deepali Saha, a TMC MLA accused of casting proxy votes during the Lok Sabha polls on May 7.

They said that the government prosecutors were absent during the hearing in the Bankura court after which she received bail yesterday.

The Speaker, however, said that the matter was sub-judice and hence the motion could not be allowed to be admitted.

After a brief ruckus in the well of the House, the LF members walked out.
