Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal today directed officials for awareness generation and public sensitisation on a war footing to prevent vector-borne diseases and the seasonal influenza (H1N1) occurrence in the national capital.
Chairing a meeting to review the preparedness for vector-borne diseases and seasonal influenza (H1N1), the LG also directed the officials to ensure the availability of sufficient diagnostic kits, medicines and beds for patients in hospitals, a statement from his office said.
He directed that crisp messages, particularly in vernacular languages, must be disseminated, besides involving school students in the awareness-generation drive.
The local bodies were instructed to regularly monitor the work done by the Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBCs) and fix their accountability.
The LG emphasised that top priority must be assigned by the local bodies to the areas identified by the Directorate of Health as most vulnerable to mosquito-breeding, the statement added.
