LG Hooda compliments AEC for raising human resource quotient

The Chief of the Army's Northern Command, Lt Gen D S Hooda today complimented Army Education Corps (AEC) for raising human resource quotient of soldiers for better preparedness in modern warfare in northern theatre.

The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GoC-In-Chief) Northern Command said this on the 95th raising day anniversary of Army Education Corps (AEC) which was celebrated in Army's Northern Command theatre today.

Lt Gen Hooda exhorted the corps to maintain its momentum to ensure to further uplift in the educational standards to be in true with technological revolution and emerging challenges.

Extending warm greetings he called upon all ranks of AEC to uphold the ethos and spirit enshrined in the Corps motto "Udhyaiv Balam (Knowledge is strength)."
 

The history of AEC dates back to 1944 when then Sir Claude Auchinleck proposed the formation of self contained organisation to look after the educational training of the Indian troops.

Although the corps was raised as Royal Indian Army Educational Corps in 1921, it was re-designated as Army Educational Corps post independence, he said.

Col Goswami said that global paradigm shift in education technology has played major role in transforming education of yesteryears to modern day techno-savy education system.

Keeping pace with the advancement, Army Education Corps is also moving forward with an endeavour to prepare soldiers for future warfare, he said.

"The AEC plays a pivotal role in meeting aspirations of serving and retired soldiers of the Indian Army," Col Goswami said.

"It helps in catering higher education through IGNOU Army Education Project, Bachelor of Education Course for the dependents of Army personnel, Map Craft Training with modern navigation skills, Management of Military & Sainik Schools and Army Libraries, Foreign, Regional Languages Training, Personality Development Training, Military Music Training", he added.
