: The Ernakulam division of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) ranks third in terms of growth in India in terms of growth rate and achievement of premium, a senior LIC official said here today.
In terms of growth rate (136.62 per cent) and achievement of premium (51 per cent), the division occupies third position in the entire country and first place in the South Zone,which comprises Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, Senior Divisional Manager, LIC Ernakulam, A Soosai Manickamsaid.
"Our direct marketing unit has achieved its budget well in time occupying the Numero Uno position in the country.They could cross the budget of Rs 9.5 crore premium by mid August and now the collection is over Rs 14 crore," he added.
He said the Ernakulam division occupies first place in the country in Absolute Volume in number of policies in mobilization of Health Insurance Policies (1250 policies).
Manickam emphasised the need to expand operations of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) during its diamond jubilee year.
Meanwhile, expressing concern over the lack of insurance coverage among accident victims, he said, only six victims among the over 100 people who died in the Kollam Puttingal temple fireworks tragedy had insurance coverage.
