Liezietsu should become a member of state assembly: DAN

The Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Legislature Party today unanimously endorsed that Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu should become a member of the state assembly and work together as a solid team.

The endorsement was made by 42 out of the 60 DAN legislatures during DAN Legislature Party meeting held tonight in the State Banquet Hall here, stated a CMO release.

In this connection, the DAN Legislature Party, also appealed to the Election Commission of India to conduct the by-election for the Northern Angami-I Assembly Constituency at the earliest.

The seat was vacated by sitting Parliamentary Secretary for State Lotteries and Music Task Force, Khriehu Liezietsu on May 24 last, paving way for his father to become an elected member of the Assembly.
 

Shurhozelie Liezietsu, who is also the NPF President but not a member of the NLA, had taken over as the Chief Minister on February 22.

Meanwhile, the DAN legislators in today's meeting also reiterated their positive to pave way in the event of an honourable and amicable settlement is achieved as a result of the ongoing political talks between the Centre and NSCN(IM).

They also resolved to request the Government of India to expedite the political dialogue and bring an early solution of the ongoing almost 20-years political dialogue before the scheduled Assembly election in early 2018.
