Life for youth for killing teenaged wife

A court today sentenced a 21-year -old youth to life imprisonment for murdering his two-month pregnant wife in 2014.

Mahila Court judge G Raja awarded life imprisonment to Mehboob Ali and also imposed on him a fine of Rs 5,000.

According to the prosecution, Ali and his wife Neema, both 19-year-old then, had fallen in love and got married in September 2014 at Kalimpong in West Bengal despite opposition from their families and then shifted to the city.

They had frequent quarrels and at one stage Ali had sought divorce from her.

On December 30, 2014, Ali called Neema to the sport showroom at Variety Hall Road, where he was working and took her to the terrace, where he stabbed her before strangulating her to death.
 

Later, he informed his relatives about the murder, police said.
