Life imprisonment for Myanmarese national

Additional District and Sessions Judge K L Liana convicted Vanlalpena, a Myanmarese national for murdering one Lalropeka on the night of August 21, 2008.

The judge also fined Vanlalpenga Rs 10,000 and ordered that he should serve additional six months if the convict cannot pay the fine.

Vanlalpenga, on the night of August 21, 2008 stopped a taxi near Rangvamual village, about 10 km from Aizawl and asked the taxi driver Lalhmundika and his elder brother Lalropeka to take him in the cab up to the Salvation Army's Aizawl Temple.

After reaching the Aizawl Temple, he asked them to take him to Venghlui locality and attacked the two brothers from behind with a knife killing Lalropeka and injuring the younger brother.

 

He was apprehended by the local people.

Lalhmundika was rushed to Aizawl Civil Hospital by the local people, but Lalropeka succumbed to his injuries.
