The Krishnagar Court today awarded Life imprisonment to 14 persons for killing a couple in 2008.
Justice Gour Sundar Bandopadhyay of Krishnagar fast track third Court pronounced the sentence.
While the man was killed on the road, his wife was killed with a sharp weapon at the couple's residence. Their son had a narrow escape as he ran away.

Public Prosecutor Paresh Paul said that in addition to life imprisonment, the court fined them Rs 10,000 each. Fifty per cent of the fine would be given to the victims' family.
On November 6, 2008, Ashok Das (48) of Adityapur under the jurisdiction of Krishnaganj police station in Nadia was going to Duttaphulia on a van rickshaw. His son Mithun was with him. When they had reached Laxmidanga crossing, a few blocked the road. They killed Ashok with a sharp weapon. They also chased Mithun who managed to run away.
The miscreants then went to Ashok's home and killed with the sharp weapon.
A complaint was lodged against 24 persons. Consequently 14 persons were found guilty and awarded life imprisonment.
