David Mangee, the Oscar-nominated scriptwriter behind 'Life of Pi', has been roped in to adapt 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair', the fourth film in the 'Narnia' franchise.

The film is being produced by the C S Lewis Co and The Mark Gordon Co.

"I have always loved 'The Chronicles of Narnia', and I endlessly imagined myself finding my own passage into Narnia someday. "All these years later, I'm getting to fulfill that wish just a little bit by writing the film adaptation of 'The Silver Chair' and could not be more excited about it," Mangee said in a statement, reported by the Hollywood Reporter.

The last film in the series, 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader', was released in 2010 and earned USD 416 million.

The story of Narnia began with the publication of 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe' in 1950. The series, by Lewis, has seven books.

Mangee's critically acclaimed work includes his 2012 screen adaptation of Yann Martel's novel 'Life of Pi', which earned him an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay. He was also nominated for 'Finding Neverland'.
