Life sentence for man for murdering paramour

A local court today sentenced a person to life imprisonment for murdering his paramour in 2013.

The prosecution case was that 26-year-old Meganathan, a married man with two children, was having illicit relationship with a 36-year-old married woman in the same locality.

According to the prosecution, after he came to know that she was having an affair with another man, an infuriated Meganathan decided to murder her and on November 26, 2013, he took the woman to an isolated spot, strangled and stabbed her to death and threw the body into a canal.

A few days later, he surrendered to police.
 

Examining the case, the District Mahila Court Judge Thirunavukkarasu sentenced him to life for murder and seven years rigorous imprisonment for hiding the evidence of murder by throwing the body into the canal. The judge ordered that both sentences run concurrently.
