Lifer for patricide

A 40-year-old man, who is undergoing seven years' imprisonment for the murder of his mother, was today sentenced to undergo life imprisonment for killing his father three years ago.

Kanakaraj used to pick up quarrel with his father Mayilsami on property and in a fit of anger he banged his father's head with aN axe, following which he died in April 2012.

The case was going on in the Additional Sessions court here.

Meanwhile, Kanagaraj, who came out on bail, picked up a quarrel with his mother for the property and pushed his mother who fell in the bathroom sustaining serious leg and hip injuries in December 2012.
 

However, the mother died a few days later and the case against Kanakarag was converted to murder from attempt to murder. However, since there was no motive was found for the murder, he was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

In the case of murder of father, the Additional Sessions Judge Karthikeyan ordered Kanakaraj to undergo life sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
