Light rainfall in Bihar

Light to moderate rains occurred in several parts of Bihar today, the MeT Department said.

Heavy rainfall also occurred at one or two places in the state. Gaya received a rainfall of 2.4 mm, while Patna and Purnea received 0.4 and 0.2 mm of rains respectively, it said.

Purnea was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 33 degrees Celsius followed by 32.8 degrees Celsius in Bhagalpur, 30.4 degrees Celsius in Patna and 29.6 degrees Celsius in Gaya, the weatherman said.

In its forecast for the next 24 hours, the Department said Patna and Gaya are expected to witness generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
 

Meanwhile, according to the Central Water Commission report, the water level of River Punpun was receding.

The river was flowing 173 cm above the danger mark of 50.6 m, the report said adding, the water level is expected to further reduce by 93 cm by tomorrow morning.

It was flowing 236 cm above the danger mark yesterday.

There is no threat of flood waters entering the villages of Punpun block of Patna and all embankments are safe and secured.

The left embankment of Punpun river had witnessed seepage at its sluice gate on September 13 following heavy rains in the catchment area of the river.
