Light rains in parts of Punjab

Light rains today lashed few parts of Punjab, even as the minimum temperature rose in the state and in neighbouring Haryana.

The MeT Department here has forecast rains in the two states and their common capital Chandigarh until tomorrow.

Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Gurdaspur and Faridkot were among the places which received rains.

The night temperature, which had been hovering a few notches below normal at most places in the two states over the past few days, registered a sudden increase today.

Chandigarh recorded a low of 11.6 degrees Celsius, up five notches against normal limits, a MeT Department official said here.
 

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 10.4 degrees Celsius, up five degrees while Ludhiana registered a minimum of 13.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees more than normal limits.

Patiala recorded a low of 12.6 degrees Celsius, up four degrees.

Pathankot (13.6 deg C) and Faridkot (12 deg C) also recorded above normal minimum temperature.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 12.1 degrees Celsius, up four notches against normal limit.

Hisar recorded a low of 11.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees more than normal limit while Narnaul registered a low of 9 degrees Celsius, up two degrees against normal.

The minimum temperature at Karnal settled at 8 degrees Celsius while Rohtak and Sirsa recorded minimum temperature of 7.9 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius, respectively.
