Light rains and cloud cover today offered respite to Delhiites as the mercury hovered below the 40 degree-mark while the humidity level shot up.
The weather stations at Safdarjung, considered to be the official figure for the city, Lodhi Road, Palam, Ridge and Ayanagar recorded rainfall of 2.9 mm, 2.2 mm, 6.0 mm, 0.7 mm and 10.2 mm respectively over the past 24 hours, MeT department said.
During the afternoon too, traces of rainfall were witnessed in the Ridge area.

The maximum temperature today settled a notch below the season's average at 39.9 degree Celsius while the minimum was recorded five notches below the normal at 22.2 degrees.
Humidity in the air oscillated between 84 and 25 per cent.
The MeT department has predicted partly cloudy skies along with the possibility of light rains and thunderstorm in some parts of the city tomorrow.
"The skies will be partly cloudy. Light rain and thunderstorm could occur in some parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle at 39 and 24 degree Celsius," the MeT forecast said.
