Light to moderate rain occurred at isolated places over eastern part of Uttar Pradesh and at a few places in western part of the state today even as river Ganga receded at all places barring Ballia.
The MeT department has predicted rain or thunder showers at many places over the state for tomorrow.
In the last 24 hours, Anupshar and Budhana both received 9 cm of rain, while Kaiserganj and Mawana 4 cm each, Elgin Bridge, Karvi and Gautam Buddha Nagar 2 cm each and Jaunpur, Lucknow, Gonda, Kairana, Nazibabad 1 cm each, it said.

According to the Central Water Commission report, Ganga is receding everywhere in the state but is still flowing above danger mark in Ballia, while Sharda is above red mark at Palliakalan (Kheri).
A total of 8.7 lakh people in 987 villages in Varanasi, Allahabad, Ghazipur and Ballia are affected due to flood and relief and rescue operations are on.
The state government has also alerted the health department to check any outbreak of disease.
