Three persons were today killed in lightning strike in Hazaribagh district even as Palamau and Chaibasa continued to reel under hot weather conditions with maximum temperatures of 41.6 and 41.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
A man, a woman and a 13-year-old boy were killed by the thunderbolt at Katkamdag, Chharau and Oreya villages, located close to Hazaribagh town, the police said.
According to the local observatory, Hazaribagh recorded 30 mm rainfall.

Elsewhere, several parts of the state experienced cloudy sky with Khunti, Lohardaga, Chatra and Simdega experiencing a drizzle or rain with temperatures hovering between 35 and 39 degrees Celsius, the MeT department officials said.
With another day of cloudy weather in the state capital, Ranchi (38.6 deg C) recorded 0.8 mm rainfall, while Jamshedpur (39 deg C) recorded 0.2 mm rainfall, they said.
The forecast for the next 24 hours is partly cloudy sky, rain or thundershowers at a few places, the MeT office said.
