Two children were killed today and three others injured when lightning struck them at Narla village of the district, police said.
Little after noon when downpour started, Umrao Singh (10), Balu Singh (14) and three others took shelter under a tree in Narla, some 25 kms from distirct headquarters, they said.
Suddenly, lightning struck them killing Umrao and Balu on the spot, Badodh police station assistant sub- inspector Amar Singh Rathore told PTI.
He said the three injured identified as Pratap Singh, Kallu Singh and Shiv Singh sustained burn wounds and were rushed to neighbouring Ujjain district for treatment.
Bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families after postmortem, Rathore added.
