Lightning strike kills 4; train services disrupted

Four persons were killed by lightning and train services on Howrah-New Delhi route were disrupted as uprooted trees blocked railway tracks at Asansol in Burdwan district during heavy rain today.

The police said Dolly Kalindi (36), Rekha Kumari (16) died at Burnpur when they were hit by lightning this afternoon when they were standing outside their home during heavy rain.

Two others - Kainath Noman (26) and an unidentified male - died when lightning struck them at Rahamat Nagar of Asansol town, sources said.

Meanwhile, uprooted trees blocked the railway tracks at Kalipahari station near Asansol disrupting train services for nearly an hour, railway officials said.
