At least 15 people were killed and eight others injured in separate lightning incidents in Odisha today, police said.
While four persons were killed as lightning struck at three places in Kendrapara district, four others were killed in Ganjam district, they said.
Among the other deaths, three were reported from Jatni area near Bhubaneswar and two each in Mayurbhanj and Bhadrak districts, police said.
The victims were either working in open field or sheltered under tree when they were struck by thunderbolts in different parts of the state which was hit by a squall, police said.
Among the injured, three persons suffered burn wounds in Ganjam, two got wounded in Mayurbhanj and three others in Kendrapara by thunderbolt strikes.
