A lineman was electrocuted while repairing electric wires today following which several people protested by blocking the Mathura Baldeo road for more than three hours here citing negligence.

Traffic could be restored only after Sub-Divisional Magistrate Garima Singh intervened and pacified the protesters.

"Not only a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh from the power department was handed over to deceased's family, but Rs 50,000 cash collected by power employees was also given. The case would be recommended for getting some more relief from the Chief Minister's fund," Singh said.

Chandan Singh, 27, who was undertaking a repairing work, fell on the transformer and died as the power supply was restored without informing him.
