Lineman electrocuted while restoring power supply

A 37-year-old lineman today died of electrocution, leading to protests by locals who blocked the Agra-Noida expressway for nearly two hours.

Pappu (37), resident of Basai village, was mending a power line when electricity supply suddenly resumed, a police official said.

Protesters blocked the Agra-Noida Expressway near Basai village for nearly two hours.

"Blockade was lifted following assurance of employment to the victim's next of kin by power department and compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh and some help from Chief Minister's Relief Fund," SP Rural Ajai Kumar said.
