Link Anganwadi,Aasha workers with population control:Amanullah

Inaugurating a workshop on family welfare programme organised by Population Foundation body here, Amanullah said that "misunderstanding" about family planning and population control programmes should be removed from the minds of the people through active participation of Anganwadi and Aasha programme workers.

Sona Sharma, a representative of the body, said that population in the state was increasing at the rate of 28 lakh a year and the marriage of nearly 55 per cent girls were being solemnised between the age of 20 and 24.

She said that the main reason behind rise in infant mortality rate in the state was early marriage of girls.
