Linkman of GNLA militants arrested

The linkman, Abdul Kadir Ai, was involved in extortion for GNLA and was arrested by the police and BSF troops deployed in counter insurgency operations in the district, they said.

Ai is a resident of Putimari village in Ampati PS and Rs 1000 was seized from his possession along with a mobile phone, the officials said.

Meanwhile, the BSF today apprehended a Bangladesh national along with a huge cache of fake currency notes near Hangaria outpost of BSF in Jaintia Hills district.

Nazir Mia, a resident of Gundapur village in Jagannathpur PS in Sylhet was apprehended at around 1:30 am by the border guards while he was trying to infiltrate through the porous international border.

 

BSF said fake Indian currency notes with face value worth Rs 15,000 was seized from his possession.

The BSF also seized three country boats, wooden logs and other contraband items whose estimated cost is more than one lakh rupees from different location in the state.

The seized items were handed over to concerned state department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land, BSF said.
