Liquor and arrack shops to remain closed on poll eve

It will be a three-day dry spell in this Union territory as the authorities today ordered closure of all liquor vending shops from April 22 in view of the April 24 Lok Sabha elections to the lone seat here.

Liquor, toddy and arrack shops would remain closed from April 22 to 24, an official release said here.

The Lt Governor issued the order directing the shop owners to close the establishments to ensure holding of the polls in a fair and peaceful manner, it said.
