Liquor dealer shot dead

A liquor dealer was today shot dead by unidentified assailants near Domjuri bridge in Uranium township of Jadugora, about 25 km from here, police said.

45-year-old Anil Gupta was returning home after making payment to a supplier in Jamshedpur when the incident took place, Arvind Yadav, Officer-in-charge of Jadugora police station said.

He said four persons, who were following him on two motorcycles, intercepted him near the bridge and opened fire at him, injured him critically.

Gupta was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital here but succumbed to his injuries, the OC said adding that the doctors declared him brought dead on reaching the hospital.
 

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shailendra Kumar Sinha rushed to the spot to investigate the matter.
