Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju today said his adopted village Dwarapudi has become liquor-free and it will now serve as a model for others in the country.

Dwarapudi, located in this district of Andhra Pradesh and which the Minister adopted under the Centre's Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, has become free of liquor, Raju said.

The village will now became a model for others in the country, he said after inaugurating a Panchayat building and a library at Dwarapudi near here.

The library will be connected to other libraries under a digitalisation project initiated by the Modi Government, the Minister said.

Solar power is being used by the villagers and this has helped in lower consumption of electricity supplied by Government-run utility, he said.
