With the names of candidates who are likely to get the ticket doing rounds extensively in the media, it evoked a mixed reaction from various leaders.
Congress Chief Whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy told reporters here today that he was surprised over the name of a person, who reportedly quit TDP yesterday, cropping up for Parkal Assembly seat in Warangal district.
Congress workers in the district were hurt over the choice as the person is a rank outsider, said Reddy, who is also the president of Warangal district Congress committee.
He claimed the party leaders in the state told him that his wife can be the candidate in Parkal though he did not ask for it.
Meanwhile, state Health Minister D L Ravindra Reddy, who is known to be critical of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, said the Chief Minister would work for the victory of candidates in Kadapa district as he appeared to have had a major say in their selection.
Taking exception to Ravindra Reddy's allegedly frequent critical remarks against Chief Minister, party MLA G Veerasiva Reddy said the Health Minister can suggest to the party high command if he had any better candidates in mind.
