At Dum Dum airport in the north, only 0.8 mm rain was recorded, the MeT Department said.

The highest temperature in the state was recorded as 36.0 degree Celsius in Bankura with the neighbouring Asansol and Burdwan following closely with 35.1 and 35 degreed Celsius respectively, it said.

Kolkata was humid and warm causing discomfort to citizens with a maximum of 34.1 degrees Celsius.

The Met department has forecast similar warm and humid weather for tomorrow in the state. It has, however, predicted generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain in sub-Himalayan West Bengal from Thursday.
