Loans worth around Rs 52 crore have been disbursed to women self-help groups (SHGs) in Chhattisgarh since 2003.
"The state's Women and Child Development Department has distributed a loan of Rs 51 crore 94 lakh 80 thousand to 28,324 women self-help groups in the span of last 12-and-a-half year under 'Chhattisgarh Mahila Kosh' loan scheme," a government spokesperson said here today.
Women SHGs are active in the state and engaged in several kinds of work, particularly in rural areas, he added.

The state government has been running this loan scheme since 2003 to provide easy loans to women SHGs.
Under the scheme, first the SHGs are provided loan of Rs 50,000 at an annual interest rate of 3 per cent.
After the SHG concerned returns the amount, the scheme has a provision of disbursing loan worth Rs 2 lakh to it the second time, he added.
In 2015-16 fiscal, at-least 937 groups were sanctioned loans over Rs 3.20 crore till October, he said.
For first loan, SHGs are allowed to repay the loan amount in 24 installments. The second loan can be paid in 36 installments, the official said adding recovery starts three months after the disbursal.
