Lobsang Sangay re-elected as PM of Tibetan government-in-exile

Lobsay Sangay, the Sikyong (Prime Minister) of Tibetan government-in-exilewas re-elected, defeating his lone rivalPenpa Tsering, the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament, by a margin of 9012 votes.

'Chief Election Commissioner' Sonam Choephel Shosur told reporters that Sangay polled 33,876 (57.08 per cent) votes against Tsering's 24,864 (41.89 per cent) votes.

A total of 45 members were elected for Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, he added.

Sangay said this election sent a message to China where people are "deprived of exercising their democratic rights" and termed it as a message of hope for Tibetans in Tibet.
