Local body polls conducted peacefully

Prakasam district local body elections polling went off peacefully, registering a 76.10 percentage, official sources said here today.

Out of 992 votes, 775 voters cast their votes in three polling stations at Ongole, Kandukur and Markapur.

District Collector Sujatha Sarma and election observers observed the polling, while Returning Officer Hari Jawaharlal and Superintendent of Police Ch Srikanth, personally visited all polling stations.

Superintendent of Police Srikanth said that elaborate security measures were arranged at the counting centre at Ongole Municipal Corporation office.

Counting will be conducted on July 7.
