Local court acquits murder accused

A local court today acquitted a murder accused, giving him the benefit of doubt.

Principal district judge R R Gandhi while pronouncing the verdict said the prosecution failed to prove the charge of murder against accused Sunil Uttam Gavli.

Gavli was accused of killing one Ambadas Tumma (35) on January 8, 2013.

The prosecution told that court that Gavli, a ragpicker, had a quarrel between with Tumma on a petty issue and hit him hard in his stomach, following which the latter succumbed to the fatal injury.

The court observed that the prosecution miserably failed to prove the charges.
