Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that although he has been selected as a part of Narendra Modi's team for 2014 poll, he finds local politics important.
In the first reaction after being selected as a part of the BJP poll campaign committee chief Modi's team, Parrikar said that he didn't expect it.
"I am given a job and I will do it," the Chief Minister, who is known as a supporter of Modi, told reporters at the sidelines of IIT Bombay alumni convention here.
"There is no question of expecting but I didn't lobby for it. For me local politics is important," the BJP leader said while responding to a question if he was expecting this appointment.
He said the committee is yet to meet and hence he has no idea what would be his role in the campaigning.
"I don't know what will be my job. May be they will call for a meeting sometime now and brief what exactly is my role. I cannot say what I am supposed to do," Parrikar said.
When asked if he would like the party to emulate Goa model for development in the five states which are going for polls this year, Parrikar said the party manifesto should address state specific problems.
"I don't feel models are important. State specific problems need to be addressed with a proper mechanism. The government should be sensitive towards people's needs, you need to identify needs of the people and back it with programmes," he added.
