A few locals approached a hospital today to claim the newborn girl who was abandoned by her mother in Churu district on Saturday.
"The newborn girl found abandoned on Saturday in Lambor badi village and was shifted to Rajgarh hospital from where she was referred to Churu district hospital," Investigating Officer Dharmpal said.
Yesterday, he said, some locals approached the hospital and claimed that the girl belongs to their family and they feel sorry that her mother abandoned her.
"They said that the girl should be returned to them but without proper verification it could not be done yesterday," he said.
They were summoned again today but they did not turn up, he said, adding that the matter is under investigation.
