The imbroglio over selection of the Congress candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency continued today.
Alemao, a senior Congress leader in the state, had given the party a 24-hour deadline to reconsider its decision to give the ticket to Aleix Reginald Lourenco yesterday.
"I received a call from the All India Congress Committee secretary Dr Chellakumar who asked me to wait till 12 noon tomorrow," Alemao told PTI today.

Alemao is lobbying for his daughter, Valanka. He had earlier threatened a rebellion if the party did not oblige him.
Office bearers of the Goa unit of Congress held a meeting to discuss the issue today. Emerging from the meeting, GPCC chief John Fernandes said that whoever leaves the party at this juncture would face a life-time ban.
Fernandes later air-dashed to Delhi to meet the party high command.
While senior leaders were busy troubleshooting, Goa spokesperson of the party's students wing, NSUI, Milroy Antao took on the state Congress spokesperson Pratima Coutinho.
Antao accused Coutinho of indulging in a blamegame by targeting Valanka. NSUI demanded disciplinary action against Coutinho, who has been recently appointed as GPCC spokesperson.
