Lokpals recruited in 26 districts to hear grievances on MNREGA

The Rural Development department has recruited Lokpals in 26 districts to hear grievances related to implementation of MNREGA in Bihar, a minister said today.

Some of these Lokpals have been given additional charge of districts where the recruitment process for such posts is underway, Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra said.

The recruitment of Lokpals have been made under section 27(1) of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act with a mandate to hear grievances related to the workers and its disposal as per law, on the spot inspection of works and taking suo motu cognisance of any irregularities, he said.
 

The recruited Lokpals have a fixed tenure of two years and they will be paid Rs 1,000 per meeting, Mishra said.

The recruitment of Lokpals in remaining 12 districts will be made in due course of time, the Minister said.
