Samajwadi Party in Karnataka today suffered a blow ahead of Lok Sabha polls, when its lone MLA C P Yogeshwara, a known party hopper, joined the Congress.

Yogeshwara, representing Channapatna Assembly segment, was welcomed into the party by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC President G Parameshwara.

"I have the satisfaction of having come back to my home," said Yogeshwara, a five-time MLA, twice from Congress and once from BJP and SP and an Independent earlier in political transit.

Siddaramaiah said though Yogeshwara had left the Congress in the Assembly polls in May last year for various reasons, he had still remained a Congressman.

Both BJP and JDS had reportedly sought to woo Yogeshwara, a member of the Yeddyurappa ministry, whose Assembly segment falls in Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency.
