Look into overpricing of food-items in cinema halls: Speaker

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel today directed the AAP government to look into the complaints of overpricing of food-items and drinks inside the cinema halls in the national capital.

The move comes after Rithala AAP MLA Mahendar Goyal raised the issue on the second day of the Budget Session.

"I direct the government to look into it," Speaker said.

Goyal said there should be some control over the matter.

"Cinema halls are carrying out massive loot. Tickets are already very expensive and cinema halls do not allow people to carry in food or water citing security reasons.

"However, the food items and drinks they serve inside are too expensive, costing up to 50-00 times of their value outside the hall," Goyal said.
